Speiros 2017-01-25 20:50:58

Bashing-om 2017-01-25 20:51:11

I seem to be stuck right at the beginning. ls is showing my directory I want to enter (just the desktop), but when I cd /Desktop it says it can't be found, but it is there.
EriC^^ 2017-01-25 20:52:41
cd Desktop without /
EriC^^ 2017-01-25 20:52:51
or cd ~/Desktop
Speiros 2017-01-25 20:52:57
EriC^^ Ok, I'll give it a shot.
EriC^^ 2017-01-25 20:53:14
~/ means home dir
Ben64 2017-01-25 20:53:19
when you start with / it means the root directory
Speiros 2017-01-25 20:53:34
Ah, makes sense:) Thanks, and it worked too.
Speiros 2017-01-25 20:53:42
Cheers too Ben64:)
Ben64 2017-01-25 20:53:56
if you wanted to start with / you'd have to do like... 'cd /home/$USER/Desktop'
Speiros 2017-01-25 20:54:47
Ben64 Yeah, I had trouble getting in from that angle, but got into home through it, but not the username lol, probably the symbols used in the username.
Ben64 2017-01-25 20:55:23
if you type it exactly how i have up there, it'll work
Ben64 2017-01-25 20:55:32
or put in your actual username

hi guys, somehow my disk is at 98%, but / seems to only contain less than half. see https://bpaste.net/show/501c102e0ee7 . any idea why it's showing 95G in use when really it's only 33G?
flain 2017-01-25 21:29:08
Hi. I have a problem. I can't seem to find what causes my port 8000 to be blocked. Using the command "sudo lsof -i -P -n | grep LISTEN", the program "webfsd" of user "www-data" appears to be the one using. With "nmap localhost", it shows "http-alt". I know I can just "kill" it, but I want to know what causes it. It was not like this last week. Thanks.

flain: webfsd is a webserver
EriC^^ 2017-01-25 21:34:50
avieks: set it to manual partitioning and then follow ubottu 's link
PickledEggs 2017-01-25 21:35:22
flain: have you tried visiting http://localhost:8000 from a browser?
flain 2017-01-25 21:35:57
PickledEggs: I tried. And it says "File or directory not found"
flain 2017-01-25 21:37:21
I haven't started any server before running an appengine app which also binds to 8000. Then failed. I usually kill the app using it beforehand so the bind becomes a success.
Ben64 2017-01-25 21:43:15
flain: you already figured it out. webfsd is running on that port
flain 2017-01-25 21:44:38
Ben64: Yeah, but is it possible to know what application made the command?
