aactually, no
wedgie 2017-01-28 11:06:40
just need to quote your vars
wedgie 2017-01-28 11:07:09
"i" "$name.mp3"
wedgie 2017-01-28 11:07:13
err
wedgie 2017-01-28 11:07:19
"$i" "$name.mp3"
ducasse 2017-01-28 11:07:37
FrogCast: what are you trying to make?
FrogCast 2017-01-28 11:08:27
ducasse, just a Makefile.linux
freelancerbob 2017-01-28 11:09:20
wedgie: for i in *.ogg;do ffmpeg -i $i "$name.mp3";done >>Still same error
FrogCast 2017-01-28 11:09:45
FrogCast, its a for a piece of proprietary c software I purchased. I understand that I have to link the appropriate file, but I just don't know how to efficiently find the libs on my system.
wedgie 2017-01-28 11:09:46
for i in ./*.ogg; do ffmpeg -i "$i" "$name.mp3"; done
wedgie 2017-01-28 11:10:28
freelancerbob: always quote exansions. That is, always quote anything with a $ at the front
ducasse 2017-01-28 11:12:20
FrogCast: probably better if you ask this in ##linux, it's outside what we support here. but make sure libasound2-dev is installed.
FrogCast 2017-01-28 11:12:49
ducasse, ah, didn't even consider the -dev files. Thanks

ducasse: Wow! You're such a great helper, you deserve a cookie!
ducasse 2017-01-28 11:13:19
FrogCast: probably all you're missing, otherwise try ##linux.

SansiroSugata 2017-01-28 11:25:39
amazing!!!
MonkeyDust 2017-01-28 11:25:40
SansiroSugata this is the ubuntu support channel, confine yourself to ubuntu questions
SansiroSugata 2017-01-28 11:25:49
Understood.
TheOnlyBouncer 2017-01-28 11:25:58
Ohai, question, i have a laptop with a 1060 and try to install Ubuntu, but it seems not to be able to boot up the live stick. nomodeset seems not to work
SansiroSugata 2017-01-28 11:26:19
Where can i find information on how to set up Storage Server using Virtual Space ?
ducasse 2017-01-28 11:28:23
SansiroSugata: pretty sure that's not an ubuntu question.
TheOnlyBouncer 2017-01-28 11:29:40
I tried both with Ubuntu 16.04 and with a daily build of 17.04 btw
TheOnlyBouncer 2017-01-28 11:29:47
probably nouvau screwing up somehow?
k1l 2017-01-28 11:30:13
TheOnlyBouncer: tried 16.10? that should work with nomodeset
TheOnlyBouncer 2017-01-28 11:30:41
seems weird that 16.10 should work and 17 daily not?
ducasse 2017-01-28 11:31:26
TheOnlyBouncer: 17 daily is a dev build, so not really.
TheOnlyBouncer 2017-01-28 11:32:10
k will try 16.10 then
countingdaisies 2017-01-28 11:34:34
Does anyone know more about macchanger? http://www.gnu.org/software/macchanger
antenne 2017-01-28 11:34:48
?
ducasse 2017-01-28 11:35:01
countingdaisies: "know more"?
TheOnlyBouncer 2017-01-28 11:36:05
countingdaisies, its a changer for mac addresses
countingdaisies 2017-01-28 11:36:33
I'm wondering why I can run sudo macchanger -A wlp2s0 and get output that indicates the mac was changed, but when I do sudo ifconfig after that (after binging that wireless card back up) - is shows the old (actual address) rather than the new one macchanger said it would be?
countingdaisies 2017-01-28 11:37:03
I've been using macchanger for a few years but have never been able to get it to work right (but that's another story)
countingdaisies 2017-01-28 11:37:24
TheOnlyBouncer: Sorry, I get to typing and ....
countingdaisies 2017-01-28 11:37:26
:)
ducasse 2017-01-28 11:37:45
countingdaisies: what do you do to bring the interface up?
countingdaisies 2017-01-28 11:38:45
ducasse: This time, it was brought down and up via the gui: > network icon in top bar > Enable WiFi
countingdaisies 2017-01-28 11:39:06
I have done sudo ifconfig wlp2s0 up / down before though
ducasse 2017-01-28 11:39:36
countingdaisies: thought so. aiui, (at least some versions of) network manager will override what macchanger does
countingdaisies 2017-01-28 11:40:48
ducasse: aiui ? <--- sorry never seen it. And, does that mean its in how I'm using it? What's the right way to do this?
ducasse 2017-01-28 11:41:07
countingdaisies: aiui = as i understand it
countingdaisies 2017-01-28 11:41:43
ducasse: ahh
Cust0sLim3n 2017-01-28 11:41:43
hai
ducasse 2017-01-28 11:42:11
countingdaisies: so, if my understanding is correct, you would need to avoid using network manager for that interface.
Cust0sLim3n 2017-01-28 11:42:16
can someone send me their /etc/fstab and /etc/apt/sources.list
Cust0sLim3n 2017-01-28 11:42:18
or bpaste it
Cust0sLim3n 2017-01-28 11:42:41
preferably from 16.10 server
k1l 2017-01-28 11:42:50
Cust0sLim3n: fstab is dependend on your exact system.
Cust0sLim3n 2017-01-28 11:42:56
k1l, I know
k1l 2017-01-28 11:43:01
Cust0sLim3n: i guess you removed /etc or such=
countingdaisies 2017-01-28 11:43:07
ducasse: Oh. Does that turn this into something more involved then?
Cust0sLim3n 2017-01-28 11:43:10
but I'm doing a debootstrap install and its just blank
Cust0sLim3n 2017-01-28 11:43:18
k1l, so I just want to see conventions
Cust0sLim3n 2017-01-28 11:43:25
so mine does not look too odd
ducasse 2017-01-28 11:44:07
countingdaisies: a bit. you might be able to do it with using wicd instead, that's pretty simple. i'm not certain that will work, though.
countingdaisies 2017-01-28 11:44:56
ducasse: thanks. I think now I know what I'm up against so I should be able to look it up and find a soln.
