EriC^^, I hope I did not speek to soon. I have been given a mount point, how to read this?
EriC^^ 2017-01-26 21:54:54
_jyo_: as usual, copy the files off their to another place and they'll stay decrypted
_jyo_ 2017-01-26 21:55:18
EriC^^, I hope I did not speek to soon. I have been given a mount point, how to read this?/

koen_: are you able to ping 8.8.8.8?
_jyo_ 2017-01-26 22:00:47
EriC^^, I have tried ecryptfs-mount-private, it says that it is not set up properly
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:01:07
ppf: connect: Network is unreachable
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:01:14
what is 8.8.8.8 btw?
ppf 2017-01-26 22:01:24

koen_ 2017-01-26 22:01:38
aah ok k
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:01:44
ppf: how can i solve this
ppf 2017-01-26 22:01:48
paste ifconfig
_jyo_ 2017-01-26 22:03:42
going to try copying and then changing permissions, I guess that is all that is blocking now
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:04:23
ppf: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/90dd97dbf5021dfb5b800dc07a3e6a78
ppf 2017-01-26 22:05:29
koen_: is your cable plugged in?
ppf 2017-01-26 22:05:37
we're talking about ethernet, right?
ppf 2017-01-26 22:05:59
wait, you said vm
ppf 2017-01-26 22:06:06
is the vm configured to have an ethernet port?
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:06:25
ppf: no its in wifi
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:08:52
ppf: any solutions?
TvL2386 2017-01-26 22:09:53
so koen_ you have ubuntu 16.04 in vmware on wifi?
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:10:36
TvL2386: yes exactly
TvL2386 2017-01-26 22:11:14
so I suppose your vmware host is on wifi and not the VM itself
_jyo_ 2017-01-26 22:12:14
EriC^^, I have no idea what to do next, uncertain at to whether the data is copyable or not. Your advice would be most welcome
EriC^^ 2017-01-26 22:12:36
_jyo_: try opening the files
fedecupe 2017-01-26 22:12:42
good evening, I'm looking for help in installing a displaylink driver with newer evdi module. Anyone cares to help?
TvL2386 2017-01-26 22:12:58
koen_, if you type "ifconfig -a" or "ip addr show", do you see any network interfaces except lo (loopback)
EriC^^ 2017-01-26 22:13:01
_jyo_: sudo nautilus /path/to/mountpoint
_jyo_ 2017-01-26 22:13:01
EriC^^, I am unabe to
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:13:10
TvL2386: both are in wifi
TvL2386 2017-01-26 22:13:37
koen_, but the VM itself won't have a wifi card
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:14:00
TvL2386: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/55bc8d905ff42919f77303d27f031ba8
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:14:22
see internet is working fine in the laptop
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:14:38
but the host inside VMware is not having networking
_jyo_ 2017-01-26 22:15:02
EriC^^, there is a .desktop file and a readme
_jyo_ 2017-01-26 22:15:34
the dot desktop takes me to the home folder where the encrepter user folder is, but I can still not access it
TvL2386 2017-01-26 22:15:44
koen_, mkay. This vignesh@ubuntu is your laptop running VMWare and the h@ubuntu is the Virtual Machine?
TvL2386 2017-01-26 22:16:48
koen_, what does "ifconfig -a" or "ip addr show" inside the VM say?
EriC^^ 2017-01-26 22:16:52
_jyo_: what mountpoint did it give you?
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:17:23
TvL2386: that h@ubuntu was a typo
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:17:50
TvL2386: what i pasted was the result of iconfig and ip addr show inside vm
TvL2386 2017-01-26 22:18:41
so you paste the gist and say: "see internet is working fine in the laptop" but the gist is inside the VM and not the laptop...
_jyo_ 2017-01-26 22:18:42
EriC^^, /tmp/encryptfs.GZApZUdS
EriC^^ 2017-01-26 22:18:55
_jyo_: looks decrypted
EriC^^ 2017-01-26 22:19:11
_jyo_: what does ls -l /tmp/.. show you?
TvL2386 2017-01-26 22:19:30
it's not easy to follow koen_
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:20:05
TvL2386: i apologize for the confusion
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:20:28
i have a laptop, that has windows.on top of that i have vm ware which has ubuntu
TvL2386 2017-01-26 22:20:43
koen_, no worries... also you must have done something to make that interface "ens33" come online, because it's not shown in your first gist where you typed "ifconfig"
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:20:50
so internet is working fine in windows, but inside vmware .i.e in linux its not working
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:21:28
aah yeah i tried to do something with network and sharing settings.. but it dint work also previously the vm networking setting had a NAT
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:22:10
network adapter previously was a NAT,now i chose Host-Only
TvL2386 2017-01-26 22:22:12
yeah koen_ NAT is normally fine
TvL2386 2017-01-26 22:22:17
telephone brb
koen_ 2017-01-26 22:22:22

rizonz 2017-01-26 22:22:49

_jyo_ 2017-01-26 22:23:10
EriC^^, it shows the .desktop file the README also .ecryptfs .Private
_jyo_ 2017-01-26 22:25:21

i-K1LL-FR0GS 2017-01-26 22:25:23
once upon a time my psychiatrist had a pet frog in his office
i-K1LL-FR0GS 2017-01-26 22:25:33
my psychiatrist asked me a lot of annoying questions. When he asked "have you ever killed anything", i got extra annoyed
i-K1LL-FR0GS 2017-01-26 22:25:40
so i went to his desk, grabbed his pet frog, and removed its head, with a scissors.
i-K1LL-FR0GS 2017-01-26 22:25:44
then i said, "yeah, i kill stuff!"
i-K1LL-FR0GS 2017-01-26 22:25:46
and that was the first time i ever killed a frog
i-K1LL-FR0GS 2017-01-26 22:25:50
since then i have been killing frogs
i-K1LL-FR0GS 2017-01-26 22:25:53
i kill frogs
i-K1LL-FR0GS 2017-01-26 22:25:55
and in the future i intend to be killing frogs
i-K1LL-FR0GS 2017-01-26 22:25:58
because i kill frogs.
kazim59 2017-01-26 22:26:08
Hi, I've bought a wifi usb adapter since my laptop's internal wifi isn't strong enough. Now how do I tell Ubuntu to use my USB one and not use the internal one? Thanks.
i-K1LL-FR0GS 2017-01-26 22:26:37
because i kill frogs.
i-K1LL-FR0GS 2017-01-26 22:26:38
any questions?
EriC^^ 2017-01-26 22:28:00
_jyo_: that's not right
hateball 2017-01-26 22:28:09
