I have ubuntu 16.04 installed on a macbook pro
deadmund 2017-01-29 07:45:34
lord4163_: Yeah, I guess. Can I just link it there? Do need it to be in /etc/init.d/ do I need to use update-rc.d ?
fresheyeball 2017-01-29 07:45:45
and made the mistake of trying to install video drivers
fresheyeball 2017-01-29 07:45:56
now I get a black screen when I start the computer
ioria 2017-01-29 07:46:06
deadmund, nope, you have to give it max priority iirc
fresheyeball 2017-01-29 07:46:14
I get the ubuntu loader, and then it goes to black right when the login screen should be there
deadmund 2017-01-29 07:46:22
ioria: You mean naming it K01 ?
ioria 2017-01-29 07:46:27
deadmund, yup
fresheyeball 2017-01-29 07:46:32
if I smash ctrl+alt+f1 I can get to tty before the black screen
fresheyeball 2017-01-29 07:46:39
and from there I can run `sudo restart lightdm`
fresheyeball 2017-01-29 07:46:43
and I get a gui!
deadmund 2017-01-29 07:46:51
that is, K01scriptname
deadmund 2017-01-29 07:46:55
ioria: thanks!
fresheyeball 2017-01-29 07:46:56
but the windows are surrounded by giant black boxes
fresheyeball 2017-01-29 07:46:59
no decoration
ioria 2017-01-29 07:47:02
deadmund, good luck
fresheyeball 2017-01-29 07:47:10
I've apt-get purged nvidia everything
fresheyeball 2017-01-29 07:47:17
and done my best to reverse the commands I ran
fresheyeball 2017-01-29 07:47:20
but it makes no change
fresheyeball 2017-01-29 07:47:34
I'm on the verge of re-installing the OS and starting over
fresheyeball 2017-01-29 07:47:41
anyone have any ideas?
Bashing-om 2017-01-29 07:53:50

FManTropyx 2017-01-29 07:58:41
Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) but I shall proceed to ignore it like before
