hello
elias_a 2017-03-01 02:52:48
aadi: Did you install skype using software center?
bagus 2017-03-01 02:54:08
how to install skype?
elias_a 2017-03-01 02:55:46
bagus: Enable partner repository in software sources. Then you may install it using software center or in terminal: sudo apt-get install skype
bagus 2017-03-01 02:56:36
elias_a: thxs. going to try
aadi 2017-03-01 02:58:09
elias_a, nope, btw why?
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:02:54
aadi: Because it is the easiest way.
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:03:06
How did you install skype?
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:06:02
Skype 4.3.0.37 is available in the partner repository. I just installed it.
akik_ 2017-03-01 03:07:30
elias_a: there's a newer skype version available but it's an alpha version
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:12:41
akik_: Well, I would not use it as it is alpha.
Southern_Gentlem 2017-03-01 03:15:22
elias_a, if noone tests the alpha how is it going to become beta and then final?
Southern_Gentlem 2017-03-01 03:15:54
no testers they push and then everyone screams
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:20:09
Southern_Gentlem: I did not say no one should test it. I am saying I would not use it since it is proprietary and I rather test and support development of FLOSS.
pragma1 2017-03-01 03:20:57
Hello folks, running Ubuntu 16.10 here on a Dell XPS 15 9560. Having issues connecting my bluethooth mouse. Bluetooth is on, but searching for devices yields nothing. I checked rfkill list, looks good. Any thoughts?
akik_ 2017-03-01 03:21:07
elias_a: the older version of skype is proprietary too
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:23:01
akik: Yes. I have not supported their development at alpha stage before.
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:23:36
akik: And especially after MS bought Skype I won't have the slightest compassion. :)
ikonia 2017-03-01 03:23:53
more fool you then
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:25:13
Oh, come on. They can afford the testing if they just want to.
ikonia 2017-03-01 03:25:31
they are doing testing
ikonia 2017-03-01 03:25:37
it's called a public test
ikonia 2017-03-01 03:25:41
along side private testing
ikonia 2017-03-01 03:25:52
and if you think they are not doing private testing, again, more fool you
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:26:08
The real question is will the new version ever be production version or even beta. My guess is: no.
ikonia 2017-03-01 03:26:17
bad guess then
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:26:29
ikonia: Seen it before. :)
ikonia 2017-03-01 03:26:38
with what microsoft product
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:27:25
ikonia: Silverlight linux support ring a bell?
angel-swe 2017-03-01 03:27:35
How can I install GIMP on my UBUNTU 16.10?
ikonia 2017-03-01 03:27:37
elias_a: it never got an official linux port
ikonia 2017-03-01 03:27:50
angel-swe: open the package manager, search for gimp, click install
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:27:57
ikonia: But it was planned.
ikonia 2017-03-01 03:28:11
elias_a: no, as microsoft retired silverloight,
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:29:31
ikonia: That is not exactly what I've been told but all the same.
ikonia 2017-03-01 03:29:40
elias_a: no "no" then
k1l_ 2017-03-01 03:29:53
angel-swe: sudo apt install gimp
ikonia 2017-03-01 03:30:06
elias_a: I'd be pretty confident the Skype Linux port will get an official release some point in the near future
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:30:12
ikonia: I have problems in understanding you.
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:30:43
ikonia: Well - let's get back to the issue when it happens. ;-)
angel-swe 2017-03-01 03:33:23
ikonia, no result when you do it
angel-swe 2017-03-01 03:34:00
sudo apt install gimp seems to be working

claudio_ 2017-03-01 03:42:03
Hello everboy
ace_me 2017-03-01 03:42:03
is there any way to cascade 2 ssh tunnels ?
elias_a 2017-03-01 03:42:13
akik: Well, that is true. But if a user needs to ask what he/she has to enter into some configuration settings I'd say that user shouldn't use alpha stage sw. :)
claudio_ 2017-03-01 03:42:22
anybody may help-me
craigbass76 2017-03-01 03:42:29
Anyone use win-sshfs? I went to a newer ubuntu a few days ago, and can no longer mount up the directory. I'm guessing because the ssh key is different, but win-sshfs isn't popping up a dialog about it, just crapping out. I know this is more of a windows question, but does anyone know where I can wipe the key I have stored on the Windows box? I've looked in the registry, C:\Users\me\appdata C:\Program Files* Nada
ace_me 2017-03-01 03:42:33
anybody may help you
EriC^^ 2017-03-01 03:42:36
dannyLopez: yes bash -l makes a login shell
EriC^^ 2017-03-01 03:43:02
dannyLopez: if you dont want to logout you can use it until the next time you logout then it'll work without it
dannyLopez 2017-03-01 03:43:20
Works to all system and users?
