hello how do i add the following repositorie: "Source is currently hosted at: https://github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/Heimdall". I dont know how to compile source, does adding that repo will make the app installable with the apt-get install command? Thank you.
Wirehunter 2017-03-07 03:05:12
wendico, That's a Github repository, not an apt source.
ducasse 2017-03-07 03:05:15
CrazyPenguin: others seem to be having problems as well, can't find a definitive solution.
Kingsy 2017-03-07 03:05:49
its quite frustrating.
Wirehunter 2017-03-07 03:06:05

hey lotuspsychje
kkunji 2017-03-07 03:11:10
grumbel: I don't think those help, they make ./script arg1 arg2 handle quotes more powerfully in arg1 and arg2, but they don't do anything for echo "arg1 arg2...." | ./script , where no matter what you basically have a single string sitting on /dev/stdin There are various ways to grab it, read, cat, cat $@, but none of them parse it as it would be in the former case. I'm not fully understanding what is going on with xargs there though, read will take from /
Wirehunter 2017-03-07 03:11:18

Should the ssh key in ~/.ssh/authorized_keys on the host server be the same as the key in ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub on the client machine?
mantise 2017-03-07 03:18:37
if i have two HDD, one of them is windows with boot and windows loader. can i just remove the windows partitions and add the space to my current ubuntu install ? or it will break the boot menu and ubuntu wont start ?
similian 2017-03-07 03:19:01

similian 2017-03-07 03:19:10

Wirehunter 2017-03-07 03:22:54
mantise, Is it an uefi system?
mantise 2017-03-07 03:23:21
Wirehunter: think so but not sure tbh :p
Kingsy 2017-03-07 03:23:30
Ugh, just copying the EFI folder doesnt work
mantise 2017-03-07 03:24:10
i mean, if i want to remove my windows partitions and mbr, i need to reinstall ubuntu and remove all the partitions :s
cdunklau 2017-03-07 03:25:13
is there a way to get to a shell in the desktop installer?
Wirehunter 2017-03-07 03:25:17
Well, you would still need an partitien to store your efi files on anyway. It's the 250mb volume formatted with fat right?
cdunklau 2017-03-07 03:25:45
i've tried CTRL+ALT+F2 through F6, and it just gives me a blinking cursor, no prompt
cdunklau 2017-03-07 03:25:55
this is on 16.04
mantise 2017-03-07 03:26:14
Wirehunter: yes :)
mantise 2017-03-07 03:26:38

Kingsy 2017-03-07 03:28:46
can anyone tell me how to mount or extract the contents of an .img file?
cdunklau 2017-03-07 03:29:04
Kingsy: what's "file whatever.img" tell you
Wirehunter 2017-03-07 03:29:04
mantise, Yeaeh. Maybe you can do something with this? https://wiki.debian.org/GrubEFIReinstall
mantise 2017-03-07 03:29:22
Wirehunter: its a 105 mb partition, boot able
Kingsy 2017-03-07 03:29:39
cdunklau: efi.img: DOS/MBR boot sector, code offset 0x3c+2, OEM-ID "mkfs.fat", sectors/cluster 4, root entries 512, sectors 4800 (volumes <=32 MB) , Media descriptor 0xf8, sectors/FAT 4, sectors/track 32, heads 64, serial number 0x3bee1d19, unlabeled, FAT (12 bit)
mantise 2017-03-07 03:30:05
Wirehunter: thx i ll check it
ducasse 2017-03-07 03:33:45
mantise: you don't need /boot, but on uefi you need /boot/efi
cdunklau 2017-03-07 03:33:51
Kingsy: don't you just need to dd it?
Kingsy 2017-03-07 03:34:54
ducasse: I am not sure.. kinda just going off the posts in that bug
Kingsy 2017-03-07 03:35:06
cdunklau: perhaps yeah, I am not sure how rto do that at the moment
mantise 2017-03-07 03:35:21
cdunklau: well i dont see any /boot/efi tho :
ducasse 2017-03-07 03:35:54
mantise: can you see /sys/firmware/efi ?
mantise 2017-03-07 03:36:34
ducasse: not that either :)
mantise 2017-03-07 03:36:55
acpi, dmi and memmap :) in that folder
ducasse 2017-03-07 03:37:18
mantise: then you are not booted/installed in uefi mode.
Kingsy 2017-03-07 03:37:27
cdunklau: how can I extract a .img with dd do you know?
mantise 2017-03-07 03:37:48
ducasse: i see. just seen the uefi settings at my bios menu
ducasse 2017-03-07 03:37:50
mantise: you can mount a disk with data anywhere you want, it doesn't need to be /home
mantise 2017-03-07 03:38:02
ducasse: so i tought it was efi
thunderxwing 2017-03-07 03:38:37
Hello?
mantise 2017-03-07 03:38:52
ducasse: i know :) i just mean if i download a lot of crap. movies, pictures, sounds ect. that "trash" should be located in my /home folder. so it would be wise to put all the "loose" space for /home
thunderxwing 2017-03-07 03:38:56
Is anyone here?
thunderxwing 2017-03-07 03:39:15
Hi BlueKaj
mantise 2017-03-07 03:39:23
ducasse: insted on in / root dir
ducasse 2017-03-07 03:39:34
mantise: you can mount the disk elsewhere, and have say ~/Music be a symlink pointing there
mantise 2017-03-07 03:39:39
of in *
mantise 2017-03-07 03:39:49
oh i see
mantise 2017-03-07 03:40:54
ducasse: with ln ?
cdunklau 2017-03-07 03:40:58
Kingsy: hmm, it does seem like they actually mean extract, instead of "write the image to the USB disk"
cdunklau 2017-03-07 03:41:01
i'm not sure
cdunklau 2017-03-07 03:41:09
is there a way to get to a shell in the desktop installer?
phos1 2017-03-07 03:41:15
I am trying to setup a script to install blackfire for me automatically, how can i put in the srever ID / Token when the system prompts for them in the installation section? https://blackfire.io/docs/24-days/06-installation
cdunklau 2017-03-07 03:41:18
i've tried CTRL+ALT+F2 through F6, and it just gives me a blinking cursor, no prompt
cdunklau 2017-03-07 03:41:22
on 16.04
ducasse 2017-03-07 03:41:48
mantise: yep
mantise 2017-03-07 03:42:02
ducasse: ln -sf /path/to/file /path/to/symlink ?
Kingsy 2017-03-07 03:42:10
cdunklau: yeah. There has got to be a way
ducasse 2017-03-07 03:42:42
mantise: i wouldn't use -f, but manually move/remove target
mantise 2017-03-07 03:43:33
uhm gonna try it. ill just remove my windows partitions and see what happens. also removing the windows loader partition
mantise 2017-03-07 03:43:42
ducasse: thanks dude :)
cdunklau 2017-03-07 03:44:21
alternately, is there a way to see why ubiquity or partman isn't respecting the confirm things in my preseed file?
DouglasK 2017-03-07 03:44:31
byobu + BitVise are disagreeing... the status bar is one char longer than the terminal is wide, causing it to constantly scroll. Image of issue and term settings are here: http://imgur.com/a/0fRoC ... Help?
