compdoc 2017-03-04 04:09:34
maha_x, been a long time since Ive seen that. you using a crt, or what?
llutz 2017-03-04 04:09:46
whatsoever64839: if you want to use more than one iface with dhcp (whyever), i guess you need to run multiple instances of dhclient. this needs to be configured
whatsoever64839 2017-03-04 04:10:29
llutz: I want to use this machine as a router, that's why
llutz 2017-03-04 04:10:47

pjgrep 2017-03-04 04:10:53
I'm on trusty. My dns takes a very long time (about a minute or more) to resolve. It tries to connect to an IPv6 address first when I try to do an apt-get update. Suggestions?
pjgrep 2017-03-04 04:11:36
trusty (LTS)
pjgrep 2017-03-04 04:11:59
eg: 100% [Connecting to security.ubuntu.com (2001:67c:1560:8001::11)]
ducasse 2017-03-04 04:12:08
pjgrep: put 'Acquire::ForceIPv4 "true";' in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99force-ipv4
PCatinean 2017-03-04 04:12:22
Hey guys, how di I install nodejs locally without all the hundret of dependencies?
pjgrep 2017-03-04 04:12:54
ducasse, thanks. Is that a bug in ubuntu, or a misconfig by me? Wondering how it happened.
ducasse 2017-03-04 04:13:33
pjgrep: it's more an indication of some problem with ipv6 dns config, i'd think
tom_ 2017-03-04 04:16:13
lol
pjgrep 2017-03-04 04:18:58
ducasse -- that worked, thanks. Wondering if it is just apt or other resolutions
pjgrep 2017-03-04 04:19:24
hmm. just apt.
pjgrep 2017-03-04 04:19:46
ducasse++
robertzaccour 2017-03-04 04:20:18
It worked, thanks.
ducasse 2017-03-04 04:20:38
pjgrep: iirc, i narrowed it down to those ubuntu servers, seems they just time out over ipv6. my memory may be faulty, though.
finexbeer 2017-03-04 04:21:09
is the intell Celeron good for ubuntu
ducasse 2017-03-04 04:23:32
finexbeer: it should work, but 'good' is subjective
finexbeer 2017-03-04 04:25:26
ok
ducasse 2017-03-04 04:27:30
finexbeer: it all depends on what you're going to use them for, and how important performance is to you
freebandZ 2017-03-04 04:29:55

ducasse 2017-03-04 04:32:20
freebandZ: reinstall, wipe the disk clean.
ppf 2017-03-04 04:32:24
it'll wipe the old one along the rode
llutz 2017-03-04 04:32:46
freebandZ: you don't want to use an old installation, where you don't know what the former owner did
freebandZ 2017-03-04 04:32:48
i thought there was a way to run a code from the terminal but im currently logged into a "guest" account.. so i am very limited on admin
ducasse 2017-03-04 04:33:29
freebandZ: that ubuntu version is not supported and don't get updates, you need a newer version
