If I want to use "set -o vi" always for terminal in xubuntu, where do I put the command?
KalEl 2017-03-05 18:50:12
~/.profile?
priporg 2017-03-05 18:50:26
hi, how to install flash?
priporg 2017-03-05 19:01:33
how to check what version of ubuntu i am running?
cfhowlett 2017-03-05 19:01:44
priporg, terminal: lsb_release -d
KalEl 2017-03-05 19:01:57
priporg, if you _really_ need those apps, then it is reasonable to install flash. Do bear in mind that flash may introduce vulnerabilities in your system, which malicious hackers can take advantage of. (Ideally those apps should have been updated.)
raub 2017-03-05 19:02:15
priporg: if do not have lsb_release, there are other ways
raub 2017-03-05 19:02:48
cfhowlett: interesting since one of the terminal programs I have not updated in months
cfhowlett 2017-03-05 19:03:09
raub, did you get it sorted then?
priporg 2017-03-05 19:03:16
Thanks lsb_release worked fine
priporg 2017-03-05 19:04:51
cfhowlett, any ideas how to install pepperflash properly?
cfhowlett 2017-03-05 19:05:09
priporg, /msg ubottu flash for starters
raub 2017-03-05 19:05:35
cfhowlett: nope. I will test in my old ubuntu laptop to stay on topic
cfhowlett 2017-03-05 19:06:32
priporg, easiest way all around for flash is to install google chrome
cfhowlett 2017-03-05 19:06:45

priporg 2017-03-05 19:07:01
cfhowlett, chrome also supports java natively?
cfhowlett 2017-03-05 19:07:09
no idea
raub 2017-03-05 19:11:03
cfhowlett: Tested in my 16.04 laptop using lxtermnal, which used to work fine. Now it splits the text. I do not think the problem is the temrinal program
cfhowlett 2017-03-05 19:11:21
raub, are you copy pasting?
raub 2017-03-05 19:11:33
cfhowlett: before I saw the same behaviour in iterm2, which since is an osx program it is off-topic
raub 2017-03-05 19:11:46
cfhowlett: yep. And that worked fine before
cfhowlett 2017-03-05 19:12:07
you're probably pasting an invisible
raub 2017-03-05 19:12:51
cfhowlett: :se list (I am using vim) shows no invisible return
raub 2017-03-05 19:13:55
What I have is a variable that is broken right at the end of the line, so script thinks the first part is empty and the rest is a string
cfhowlett 2017-03-05 19:14:50
raub, a variable? should be bookended by 'X' or something similar.
raub 2017-03-05 19:15:21
cfhowlett: this is a script I was working on
cfhowlett 2017-03-05 19:15:45
understood. perhaps ask #bash
Seven_Six_Two 2017-03-05 19:28:40
did you md5 the iso
jimmy_ 2017-03-05 19:30:32
I've not tried the dd command. Will try that, yeah I md5 it
magkneetoe 2017-03-05 19:35:33

nottrollman 2017-03-05 19:39:25
