djdks 2017-03-09 05:47:52

akik 2017-03-09 05:52:21
hari_: both windows and linux use the same network
hari_ 2017-03-09 05:52:21
nacc , just connected through adsl modem and granted permission to share folders in windows system
goofyuseless 2017-03-09 05:52:21

akik , yeah same network
ducasse 2017-03-09 05:52:48

djdks 2017-03-09 05:53:24
ducasse: does ubuntu support smb2 out of the box?
akik 2017-03-09 05:53:42

sruli 2017-03-09 05:53:59

Guest8660 2017-03-09 05:55:04
wazaaaaa
Guest8660 2017-03-09 05:55:12
religion is opium for the masses
DaemeonZane 2017-03-09 05:55:43
Take your opium elsewhere
Guest8660 2017-03-09 05:55:49
:(
djdks 2017-03-09 05:55:57
how much space does livecd take after install (64 bit)?
DaemeonZane 2017-03-09 05:56:47
So I have Ubuntu 16.04 sitting at boot with "Started Update UTMP about System Runlevel Changes.
BluesKaj 2017-03-09 05:57:00
djdks, run df -h
DaemeonZane 2017-03-09 05:57:23
What can I do to see what's causing the hang?
djdks 2017-03-09 05:57:25
i don't have a clean install
DaemeonZane 2017-03-09 05:58:40
I can Alt-F2 and grab a shell, and I have working internet, but tty only.
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:21:50
So earlier today I installed ubuntu on my new laptop with encryption and secure boot, and after much fiddling it actually worked
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:22:06
then I installed nvidia drivers, which disabled secure boot but that worked
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:22:20
ducasse, there are no boot or system file in that partition
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:22:23
then I went to sleep and woke up again
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:22:26
and everything broke!
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:22:31
it is just a ext4 partition
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:22:45
it might be possile that I tried re-enabling secure boot but even after disabling it again it's broken
ducasse 2017-03-09 06:23:11
theparadoxer02: and? you can still run fsck on it.
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:23:14
it does boot when I choose recovery and then choose resume normal boot
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:23:24
but it doesnt when I just boot normally
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:23:47
it just hangs after the grub menu
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:24:02
nomodeset doesn't help, removing quiet and splash also doesn't
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:25:30
oh, I also removed the nvidia drivers (apt purge 'nvidia-*'; apt autoremove; reboot)
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:26:49
but it still fails to boot normally, even though revocery => resume works fine
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:28:02
done thanks, ducasse
ducasse 2017-03-09 06:28:02
theparadoxer02: did it mount now?
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:28:02
yeah!
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:28:02
oke, after typing in random stuff in google I found this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/809477/keyboard-not-working-with-full-disk-encryption-after-installing-nvidia-drivers-o
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:28:02
seems sortof related
ducasse 2017-03-09 06:28:02
theparadoxer02: great :)
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:28:02
brb reading
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:29:02
so that answer suggests that removing 'quit splash' should have worked...
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:29:10
ducasse, is there any way to change drive filesysytem type to another without formatting ?
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:29:15
but it didn't reliably actually fix my issue
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:29:19
I will try again anyway
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:29:29
i mean from ext4 to anytoother
ducasse 2017-03-09 06:29:31
theparadoxer02: no.
nacc 2017-03-09 06:29:33
theparadoxer02: well, you have to write a new filesystem
blackflow 2017-03-09 06:31:07
theparadoxer02: you can convert ext4 to btrfs
Peetz0r 2017-03-09 06:31:07
also, should I install nvidia-prima or bumblebee? My hardware is a HP Zbook 15 G3 with Nvidia Quadro M2000M if that matters
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:31:09
blackflow, ducasse nacc the thing is i have some data in my drive that is ext4, and whenever i try to access to that drive, i need to use terminal
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:31:23
since i have to do it with root permission everytime
ducasse 2017-03-09 06:31:47
!chmod | theparadoxer02
ubottu 2017-03-09 06:31:47

theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:31:54
whether i am copying, moving , deleting any file
blackflow 2017-03-09 06:32:11
also user mounts, does the bot have a topic on that?
nacc 2017-03-09 06:32:30
theparadoxer02: sounds like you are mounting it incorrectly
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:32:38
ducasse, will it work on mounted device ?
nacc 2017-03-09 06:32:53
theparadoxer02: changing the fs won't change a misconfiguration
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:32:59
nacc, i just click over the partition and it gets mounted
nacc 2017-03-09 06:34:05
theparadoxer02: are you running that as root?
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:34:05
nacc, running but what ?
nacc 2017-03-09 06:34:36
theparadoxer02: when you click on a partition
nacc 2017-03-09 06:34:48
theparadoxer02: and/or show us the /proc/mounts entry when its mounted
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:35:33

szb 2017-03-09 06:38:15
Hello everybody. I'm having trouble establishing a bluetooth connection to my phone. Neither does my laptop (16.04) pick up the phone nor does the phone see the laptop. As far as I can tell, bluetooth is up and running, though. Can you help me troubleshoot?
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:38:57
nacc, yess
theparadoxer02 2017-03-09 06:40:07
