tomreyn 2017-03-07 22:49:10
doge-doge: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1307867#c7
ubottu 2017-03-07 22:49:11
Mozilla bug 1307867 in Networking "How to turn off captive portal detection - detectportal.firefox.com/success.txt" [Normal,Resolved: worksforme]
tomreyn 2017-03-07 22:50:20
doge-doge: which VPN client / mechanism do you use?
doge-doge 2017-03-07 22:50:41
openvpn standard config
tomreyn 2017-03-07 22:50:51
then it's unrelated
dod_ 2017-03-07 22:51:07
if i use two different user to run a program twice, is that possible ?
doge-doge 2017-03-07 22:53:00
tomreyn, I use the terminal as well, can't be bothered by the NM
tomreyn 2017-03-07 22:53:36
dod_: yes, that's generally possible. but you may not get to see both of their graphical interfaces unless you start them from separate X sessions (which you would need to initiate before you start those separate processes).
tomreyn 2017-03-07 22:54:20
dod_: why would you like to login, to ubuntu (I assume) as an administrative and restricted (standard) user at the same time?
dod_ 2017-03-07 22:54:48
not in ubuntu, i have to launch the program twice, and log in as admin and as an user
dod_ 2017-03-07 22:54:55
in the program :) but i think i solved this
dod_ 2017-03-07 22:55:01
i test it and i write the result
tomreyn 2017-03-07 22:57:13
doge-doge: to diagnose your VPN issues, you'd best review openvpn's log files, possibly altering log verbosity and restarting the client as needed as you go. you can also make the client run without detaching off your console so you can watch its output there.
doge-doge 2017-03-07 22:58:45
I never detach the console and there isn't any apparent errors in the terminal window, everything just 404's after the latest updates lol
tomreyn 2017-03-07 23:00:01
doge-doge: so maybe you need to increase your openvpn client's verbosity
CrazyH 2017-03-07 23:00:24
On booting Ubuntu 16.04 I get the login screen, then an audio mute icon appears, then everything but the Ubuntu backdrop disappears and I'm stuck. Luckily I was able to hit CTRL+F1, login and type startx. How do I fix this?
stratocastorNM 2017-03-07 23:01:51
good luck dod
tomreyn 2017-03-07 23:03:30
dod_: i've never heard of a telephony software called "vcc", nor does a web search provide results for it.
dod_ 2017-03-07 23:05:38
tomreyn thanks for your help, its called virtual call center :)
dod_ 2017-03-07 23:05:57
well, i started it as root, and as an user, but thats not good
tomreyn 2017-03-07 23:07:46
dod_: confirmed, that's not a good idea.
strk 2017-03-07 23:09:36
where should I file bugs against an ubuntu package ?
Ben64 2017-03-07 23:09:46
!bug | strk
ubottu 2017-03-07 23:09:46
strk: If you find a bug in Ubuntu or any of its derivatives, please report it using the command « ubuntu-bug » - See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs for other ways to report bugs.
strk 2017-03-07 23:16:33
I'm confused, bugs.launchpad tells me there's no "firefox-dev" package in ubuntu ?
strk 2017-03-07 23:16:43
but I have Installed: 51.0.1+build2-0ubuntu0.16.04.2
strk 2017-03-07 23:17:02
Version table (from apt-cache policy) tells me: 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64 Packages
strk 2017-03-07 23:17:09
does 500 mean not available ? or what ?
dod_ 2017-03-07 23:20:02
thanks for your help guys
