lotuspsychje: i understand the latest isn't the best. but this situation requires gcc-5-base in ordedr to even regain my apt-get upgrade functionality back to the system.
toeshred 2017-03-06 19:09:49
either that or i have to remove ppa's, which will uninstall half my system if i do that.
toeshred 2017-03-06 19:10:06
or just format and reinstall ubuntu from scratch.
lotuspsychje 2017-03-06 19:10:10
toeshred: we dont support ppa's mate
lotuspsychje 2017-03-06 19:10:23
toeshred: you first will need to ppapurge to clean system
toeshred 2017-03-06 19:11:25
would like to try ppa-purge, but i can't install anything from my package manager at the moment.
lotuspsychje 2017-03-06 19:14:22

ubottu 2017-03-06 19:14:22
toeshred: To disable a PPA from your sources and revert your packages back to default Ubuntu packages, install ppa-purge and use the command: « sudo ppa-purge ppa:/ » – For more information, see http://www.webupd8.org/2009/12/remove-ppa-repositories-via-command.html
anddam 2017-03-06 19:24:44

anddam 2017-03-06 19:25:13

anddam 2017-03-06 19:25:37

anddam 2017-03-06 19:25:49
what's the proper approach to complete or redo the failed backup?
