jink 2017-03-03 00:48:39
Ubuntu 16.10 / QEMU VPS: I bound my postfix to specific IPs (both ipv4 and ipv6) and it fails to start during boot, because the interfaces aren't ready, yet. ("no local interface found for ...") What should I do?
MonkeyDust 2017-03-03 00:48:50
flash is oe of the restricted formats
MonkeyDust 2017-03-03 00:48:54

RadiantNova 2017-03-03 00:56:43
umm
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 00:56:59
where is the "super key" on the keyboard?
ikevin 2017-03-03 00:57:28
RadiantNova, it's the "windows" key
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 00:57:37
doesnt work
Walex 2017-03-03 00:57:50
Have some Ubuntu repositories been hacked? I find on my system kernel 3.13.0-111 installed but it seems to be "unofficial" and no longer in the repo.
Walex 2017-03-03 00:58:25
That was installed by 'unattended-upgrade'
k1l_ 2017-03-03 01:01:33
RadiantNova: what doesnt work?
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:02:12
using super key +f2
k1l_ 2017-03-03 01:02:13
Walex: there was a security update which seems to have pushed the 110 build
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:02:26
the super key supposedly being the windows key
k1l_ 2017-03-03 01:02:32
RadiantNova: what should that do?
MonkeyDust 2017-03-03 01:02:33
Walex what's the ouput of cat /etc/issue
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:02:37
i dont remember
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:02:39
try it
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:02:44
let me know
k1l_ 2017-03-03 01:02:52
RadiantNova: i guess you mean "alt+f2"
Walex 2017-03-03 01:02:55
MonkeyDust: that's fairly irrelevant...
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:03:20
dont belittle me
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:03:22
please
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:03:23
im new
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:03:42
by the way
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:03:42
walex
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:03:42
your statement imparted no knowledge
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:03:49
so its even more irrelevant
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:03:58
than mine
k1l_ 2017-03-03 01:04:00
RadiantNova: super+f2 is not a thing. so i wonder why you asking for this. and please dont use enter that often. that is annoying on irc
k1l_ 2017-03-03 01:04:20
RadiantNova: ok, good luck with that attitude.
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:04:27
im sorry
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:04:46
i dont like run-on sentences, bad english man
Walex 2017-03-03 01:05:14
RadiantNova: vertical scroll space in IRC channels is an expensive resource.
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:05:19
my attitudes not the best, its alright though. you guys are trying to be elitists downtalking to newbies
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:05:29
expensive to who?
Walex 2017-03-03 01:06:05
RadiantNova: to people who try to follow a conversation interleaved with many others.
MonkeyDust 2017-03-03 01:06:15
RadiantNova if you keep your question(s) in one line, they're easier to follow an repeat, if needed
MonkeyDust 2017-03-03 01:06:19
and*
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:06:57
alright, let me look up in the documentation where i saw this "super key +f2", because that was a first for me too
Walex 2017-03-03 01:08:54
RadiantNova: 'super' is usually left by most GUI environments to be a prefix/modifier for user bindings
cfhowlett 2017-03-03 01:12:30
y
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:16:30
that was the first time i've EVER been scolded for sending short messages on IRC, you guys that chastised me for that are some real snobs
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:16:52
linux snobs
BluesKaj 2017-03-03 01:17:20
Hi all
Necy 2017-03-03 01:18:10
HI. I installed kubuntu today but i cannot get my wifi working. It might be because of secureboot.
Guest72033 2017-03-03 01:19:23
ls
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:19:35
walex, scroll space costs nothing to generate
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:20:37
well since your running windows 95 Walex, i take that back, yea i suppose it would take a lot of your resources
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:21:45
thats true IRC high-class snobbin
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:21:56
do you have a linux limousine Walex?
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:22:41
does your toilet have linux engraved on the seat in 14k gold?
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:23:04

RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:23:27

RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:23:27

iamboris 2017-03-03 01:23:55

ubottu 2017-03-03 01:26:04
The guidelines for using the Ubuntu channels can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IRC/Guidelines
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:26:11
is this like the ten commandments?
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:26:26
thy will be done as it is in #ubuntu, amen
MonkeyDust 2017-03-03 01:27:00
RadiantNova stop
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:27:26
i read through it like a EULA
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:27:27
done
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:27:45
actually most EULA's are more interesting than those guidelines
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:28:09
ive read lawbooks more interesting
cfhowlett 2017-03-03 01:29:20
Necy, if your kubuntu system boots, then secureboot is highly unlikely to effect wifi
Necy 2017-03-03 01:30:45
i can always give it a go booting with it disabled and see
causative 2017-03-03 01:30:59
what files in your home directory should be owned by a user other than yourself?
cfhowlett 2017-03-03 01:31:01
Necy, sounds legit.
causative 2017-03-03 01:31:44
like does unity need files owned by a different user... I just chowned all files in my home directory to myself because I migrated files from a different computer, but now I'm wondering if I need to fix ownership
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:32:03
hey guys Walex is starting a new grassroots movement on IRC, he's gonna save the environment by telling people to use less scroll lines!
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:32:10
the less scroll lines, the less CO2 emissions!
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:32:51
we'll save the rainforests just by using less scroll lines
cfhowlett 2017-03-03 01:33:01
hexchat users: note that the ignore command makes disruptive elements vanish: e.g. /ignore RadiantNova
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:33:03
what a novel idea
MonkeyDust 2017-03-03 01:33:06
RadiantNova keep the chanel free for actual ubuntu support questions
Mathisen 2017-03-03 01:33:26
wow..
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:33:44
Mathisen plays world of warcraft
RadiantNova 2017-03-03 01:33:46
thats random
kangaroo72 2017-03-03 01:33:50

MonkeyDust 2017-03-03 01:39:42
kangaroo72 icedax : "Creates WAV files from audio CDs."
hateball 2017-03-03 01:40:04
Necy: is it 16.04 or 16.10?
kangaroo72 2017-03-03 01:40:16
I want to burn only two rar-files
kangaroo72 2017-03-03 01:40:23
(4 + 2GB)
kangaroo72 2017-03-03 01:40:35
on one bd
Necy 2017-03-03 01:40:50
its 16.10 hateball
hateball 2017-03-03 01:41:03
Necy: as Plasma in 16.04 is rather... volatile, you'll want to use kubuntu backports PPA or stuff like that might happen regardless of secure boot or no.
hateball 2017-03-03 01:41:22
Necy: ah ok. well, try a reboot I guess. it still acts up in 16.10 :p
hamza 2017-03-03 01:41:38
I have some troubles with the Network-manager
k3nz0 2017-03-03 01:42:27
Hello, I'm facing a problem with ubuntu 15.04. When I leave for TTY1 and want to come back to GUI mode the screen shows "Power Saving Mode" and goes offline.
k3nz0 2017-03-03 01:42:40
Any clue ?
MonkeyDust 2017-03-03 01:42:55
k3nz0 for one, 15.04 is no longer supported
cfhowlett 2017-03-03 01:42:57
k3nz0, 15.04 is quite dead and not supported here or elsewhere. install a supported version
hateball 2017-03-03 01:42:57
k3nz0: If you are really on 15.04 it is EOL
