coec ---how can i recover the single file instead of file fragments
alkisg 2017-02-22 19:46:00
coec: ah, libgnutls-dev is not available in yakkety: http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=libgnutls-dev
coec 2017-02-22 19:46:23
so what can I do about it?
coec 2017-02-22 19:46:36
mm_: what kind of file is that?
alkisg 2017-02-22 19:46:46
coec: that usually happens when something is replaced with a more recent version, so also try to get a newer version of whatever it is that you're trying to install
coec 2017-02-22 19:47:14
alkisg: sfw link: https://samsclass.info/127/proj/p7x-hopper.htm
coec 2017-02-22 19:47:19
look for libgnutls-dev
alkisg 2017-02-22 19:47:45
coec: it says "ubuntu 14.04" there, so install that or 16.04
alkisg 2017-02-22 19:47:54
coec: they obviously don't support 16.10 yet
B105PH3RE 2017-02-22 19:48:03
there is also https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DataRecovery
coec 2017-02-22 19:48:09
so what can i do about it?
alkisg 2017-02-22 19:48:27
coec: are you asking how to install 16.04?
mm_ 2017-02-22 19:48:28
coec--the file is of 001 format. the file from recovery which are broken into segments are in Found.000 folder named File0000.chk,File0001.chk,File0002.chk
coec 2017-02-22 19:48:37
alkisg: are you saying I should install 16.04?
alkisg 2017-02-22 19:48:51
coec: yes, because hopper apparently doesn't support 16.10 yet
coec 2017-02-22 19:49:06
if i will install package it won't work?
doc|home 2017-02-22 19:49:07
hey, I'm looking to set up an NFS server on a laptop for kubernetes development use. What do you use for the client IP when you want to set access only for your local machine, but the IP address might change based on the location?
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 19:49:28
I could solve it reinstalling the intel drivers after killing the mysql daemon
coec 2017-02-22 19:49:29
ubuntu-16.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso will work?
alkisg 2017-02-22 19:49:33
coec: I've no idea, it's a commercial application not supported here, so you can ask in their support channels
alkisg 2017-02-22 19:49:47
coec: in their site, they say they support 14.04
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 19:50:07
B105PH3RE: thanks anyway, I would have liked not to be called a troll though
B105PH3RE 2017-02-22 19:50:26
j4f-shredder: i never called you a troll
coec 2017-02-22 19:50:39
alkisg: where can i find the exact ubuntu version of it and does it provide support?
coec 2017-02-22 19:50:47
mm_: do you know the file signature of that file?
alkisg 2017-02-22 19:51:28
coec: it's a commercial application not supported here, go to https://www.hopperapp.com/ and check what the supported methods are
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 19:51:45
this lightdm is horrible though
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 19:51:49
it really changed
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 19:51:55
the way it was on the default install
B105PH3RE 2017-02-22 19:52:05
j4f-shredder: if your systems hanging on bootup for mysql you need to disable it on startup and see if that helps
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 19:52:17
I just did
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 19:52:18
and it worked
coec 2017-02-22 19:52:22
mm_: this is not ubuntu question although I will help you. The problem is when you didn't safely remove drive: and look here for answers: http://superuser.com/questions/124690/what-can-i-do-with-chk-files-in-found-000-folders/226466
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 19:52:29

B105PH3RE 2017-02-22 19:52:31

coec 2017-02-22 19:52:43
also try to look the files on hex editor and see if you can recover them
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 19:52:44
but now the design looks a little shitty
B105PH3RE 2017-02-22 19:52:55

hello
max12345 2017-02-22 20:25:07
hey, I've set my computer to never check for updates
max12345 2017-02-22 20:25:11
but it still does
max12345 2017-02-22 20:25:17
why and how can I stop it
jk^ 2017-02-22 20:25:36
hi all
craptalk 2017-02-22 20:26:01
is it possible to install both apache and nginx on ubuntu?
alkisg 2017-02-22 20:26:22
max12345: how did you set it not to check for updates?
jk^ 2017-02-22 20:26:52
i found a web page within a little list of "emulator" on ubuntu/linux, this webpage talk about wine and another similar emulator to run windows program on linux/ubuntu, but i don't remember which is the second one in the list, can u help me?
cfhowlett 2017-02-22 20:27:16

max12345 2017-02-22 20:27:37
alkisg: in my settings "software and updates" -> "check for updates: never"
cfhowlett 2017-02-22 20:28:03
max12345, ill-advised. security-upgrades should be automated, no?
max12345 2017-02-22 20:28:29
cfhowlett: I'm still updating, I'm just not updating in the middle of my work, like some other scrub OS
khosroanjam 2017-02-22 20:29:09
hi
khosroanjam 2017-02-22 20:30:07
guy please recommend me a good channel for backbox linux
cfhowlett 2017-02-22 20:30:16
!backbox | khosroanjam
ubottu 2017-02-22 20:30:16
khosroanjam: Backbox Linux is not a supported derivative of Ubuntu and is thus not supported in #ubuntu. Please use #backbox on irc.autistici.org or https://forum.backbox.org/ for help with it.
a777 2017-02-22 20:30:39
hello
khosroanjam 2017-02-22 20:30:53
thank you @cfhowlett
cfhowlett 2017-02-22 20:31:00
happy2help! khosroanjam
alkisg 2017-02-22 20:32:13
max12345: the "check for updates" is just an "apt-get update" in order to see if there are security updates; it doesn't force you to download the updates themselves...
alkisg 2017-02-22 20:32:55
max12345: if you want to stop the apt-daily task too, one way is http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/315502/how-to-disable-apt-daily-service-on-ubuntu-cloud-vm-image
max12345 2017-02-22 20:35:54
alkisg: thank you very much!
alkisg 2017-02-22 20:36:01
max12345: np
max12345 2017-02-22 20:38:09
alkisg: actually the question you linked has no answer :S
alkisg 2017-02-22 20:38:27
max12345: of course it does, it says how to disable apt-daily
max12345 2017-02-22 20:39:25
"This also means that there is basically no way of preventing apt.systemd.daily from running -- one can only kill it after it's started."
max12345 2017-02-22 20:39:46
?
max12345 2017-02-22 20:40:03
I mean that's an answer in a way...
alkisg 2017-02-22 20:40:14
max12345: that's a cloud thing, while apt daily can normally be stopped with the initial commands it says there
max12345 2017-02-22 20:40:33
the ones mentioned in the question?
alkisg 2017-02-22 20:40:36
max12345: ok see another one that doesn't mention cloud issues, e.g. https://cinhtau.net/wp/disable-apt-auto-update-and-upgrade/
alkisg 2017-02-22 20:41:06
Those are the same commands, it just doesn't mention cloud issues there
max12345 2017-02-22 20:41:12
ok alright
