ubottu 2017-02-22 15:51:50
Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus) will be the 26th release of Ubuntu. It is due to be released in April 2017. Discussion in #ubuntu+1
Wadjenes 2017-02-22 15:52:00
that's what I meant.
Wadjenes 2017-02-22 15:52:04

I've got a bad memory.
ubuntquestion 2017-02-22 15:57:19
hi
ubuntquestion 2017-02-22 15:59:58
is there someone who could help me connect to my network printer?
ubuntquestion 2017-02-22 16:00:09
I tried using "Generic PCL Laser Printer" and it does print, but it's in black and white and has low DPI resolution
ubuntquestion 2017-02-22 16:00:15
i'm just trying to get it in colour with better quality
jon-mac 2017-02-22 16:02:32
is there anyone who could point me in the right direction for debugging audio devices not being detected? it shows up in dmesg during boot and looks correct but doesn't show up in pulseaudio -- only another one shows up
jon-mac 2017-02-22 16:02:40
you can load > 1 audio device, right?
lotuspsychje 2017-02-22 16:10:27

ubottu 2017-02-22 16:10:27
jon-mac: If you're having problems with sound, click the Volume applet, then Sound Preferences, and check your Volume, Hardware, Input, and Output settings. If that fails, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Sound - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting - http://alsa.opensrc.org/DmixPlugin - For playing audio files, see !players and !mp3.
jon-mac 2017-02-22 16:11:10
lotuspsychje: the issue is that it does not show up as a sink or output device
jon-mac 2017-02-22 16:11:53
the only sink detected is the hdmi adapter, and it's suspended -- nothing is showing up for the speakers or headphone jack
ubuntquestion 2017-02-22 16:13:15
does anyone have any ideas about the printer issue?
lotuspsychje 2017-02-22 16:13:39
ubuntquestion: perhaps fuji drivers on their website?
lotuspsychje 2017-02-22 16:14:24
jon-mac: what ubuntu version? recent hardware plugin?
ubuntquestion 2017-02-22 16:14:42
i looked, they dont have linux
jon-mac 2017-02-22 16:14:43
lotuspsychje: 16.04, what do you mean recent hardware plugin?
ubuntquestion 2017-02-22 16:15:02
they do have Mac, which apparently has a ppd file in the dmg file - but i wasnt able to figure out how to extract it from the dmg file
ubuntquestion 2017-02-22 16:15:11
(if anyone here knows how that would be a great help too)
jon-mac 2017-02-22 16:15:30
lotuspsychje: this is a new machine, just got it with 14.04 from dell, and updated it to 16.04 if that's what you're getting at
lotuspsychje 2017-02-22 16:15:38
jon-mac: updated to latest 16.04.2?
NemosCene 2017-02-22 16:15:41
hi
jon-mac 2017-02-22 16:15:57
it's fully updated, I can double check the subversion but it should be
jon-mac 2017-02-22 16:16:30
yeah, 16.04.2 LTS
lotuspsychje 2017-02-22 16:22:30
jon-mac: did it got recognized on 14.04?
jon-mac 2017-02-22 16:22:49
unfortunately I didn't check if the audio worked :/
jon-mac 2017-02-22 16:22:55
I figured that would be the least of my problems
jon-mac 2017-02-22 16:23:20
but dell supports it on 14.04 so the hardware should be capable
lotuspsychje 2017-02-22 16:23:50
jon-mac: should be yes, but perhaps somethig going wrong with driver
transhuman 2017-02-22 16:24:34
what package provides mod_unixd.so in the latest ubuntu dpkg -S mod_unixd.so shows nothing
jon-mac 2017-02-22 16:25:13
lotuspsychje: yeah theres clearly something below pulse that's borked -- I messed with alsa for a while but am not sure if that's the right level to mess with
Bashing-om 2017-02-22 16:27:47
transhuman: I may be mistaken, but : http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?searchon=contents&keywords=mod_unixd.so&mode=filename&suite=xenial-updates&arch=any . I do not see that it is a ubuntu file .
transhuman 2017-02-22 16:29:11

Bashing-om 2017-02-22 16:30:59
transhuman: Great . You do good work . And yep, I can be mistaken :)
transhuman 2017-02-22 16:31:40
thanks but not really but I will take the compliment
transhuman 2017-02-22 16:32:05
unfortunately it doesn't create a .load and .conf file in modes-enabled
transhuman 2017-02-22 16:32:14
err..mods-available
