I have to split my display. I have 3 monitors. How to since my CPU only have 1 VGA port and no HDMI ?
arunpyasi 2017-02-27 19:14:08
hello people !! I am having issue with my MIC. It works fine in Windows 10 but not in Ubuntu !!
hitman1 2017-02-27 19:14:10
I I purchase video card will it solve my problem ?
arunpyasi 2017-02-27 19:14:16
what might be the reason ?
raccoonsrage 2017-02-27 19:14:29
microphone?
hitman1 2017-02-27 19:14:39
Since VC too have 1 VGA port and I need 3 to connect 3 monitors.
hateball 2017-02-27 19:15:37
hitman1: If you get a dedicated GPU the internal (cpu) wont be used. So you'll want a card with 3 outputs
hateball 2017-02-27 19:16:00
hitman1: With displayport it is also possible to daisychain from a single port
arunpyasi 2017-02-27 19:16:15
raccoonsrage, yes, the internal mic of laptop
raccoonsrage 2017-02-27 19:16:30
make sure you have all the drivers installed
hitman1 2017-02-27 19:16:36
hateball, I saw few cards on amazon but they all have 1 VGA and 1 HDMI.
raccoonsrage 2017-02-27 19:16:51
i had to add a couple that were missing after switching over
hitman1 2017-02-27 19:16:56
And I need atleast 3 VGA or 3 HDMIs.
arunpyasi 2017-02-27 19:16:59
raccoonsrage, I have pavucontrol
hateball 2017-02-27 19:17:13
arunpyasi: how are you determining "not working"? Have you tried recording in e.g Audacity?
hitman1 2017-02-27 19:17:14
How it is possible with display port ?
arunpyasi 2017-02-27 19:17:15
raccoonsrage, which driver do you recommend for that ?
hateball 2017-02-27 19:17:25
hitman1: https://www.displayport.org/cables/driving-multiple-displays-from-a-single-displayport-output/
arunpyasi 2017-02-27 19:17:26
hateball, yes, tried in Audacity
hateball 2017-02-27 19:17:53
arunpyasi: have you made sure the device is not muted? run "alsamixer" in a terminal to see if that is the case
hitman1 2017-02-27 19:18:22
arunpyasi, what a nick lol .. :D
cb007 2017-02-27 19:19:04
hitman1: better than ours :p
hitman1 2017-02-27 19:19:35
Once I choosed Bhaiyaji as nick :p
arunpyasi 2017-02-27 19:19:37
hateball, no, its not muted
arunpyasi 2017-02-27 19:19:43
hitman1, haha :D
ubuntu_n00b 2017-02-27 19:19:48
When running ubuntu 16.04 on an AWS i3 instance and testing an NVMe local disk with bonnie++, I see file system errors: http://paste.ubuntu.com/24082839/
arunpyasi 2017-02-27 19:19:49
hitman1, mine is the same :D
ubuntu_n00b 2017-02-27 19:20:08
I'm following up with AWS support, but does it also make sense to file an Ubuntu issue?
arunpyasi 2017-02-27 19:21:22
hateball, ok, just got it working but has a lot noise
arunpyasi 2017-02-27 19:21:29
and distortion
hateball 2017-02-27 19:21:37
arunpyasi: what chipset is it? "lspci"
hateball 2017-02-27 19:21:55
arunpyasi: it's possible you need to supply some kernel options for it to behave properly
arunpyasi 2017-02-27 19:22:22
00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio (rev 21)
hitman1 2017-02-27 19:22:32
hateball, I didn't get the displayport concept
hitman1 2017-02-27 19:22:46
Should I need to buy something ?
raccoonsrage 2017-02-27 19:23:00
no
hitman1 2017-02-27 19:23:31
Then How can I split displays on different monitors using display ports >?
hateball 2017-02-27 19:23:32
hitman1: well it depends on you having monitors with displayport
hitman1 2017-02-27 19:23:51
hateball, My monitors only have 1 port and that is VGA.
hateball 2017-02-27 19:25:03
hitman1: well then you'd need a GPU with 3 total outputs, be it VGA+HDMI+DP, and use adapters for HDMI->VGA and DP->VGA
hateball 2017-02-27 19:25:15
hitman1: anyhow, it's not really Ubuntu related, ##hardware would be a better place
hitman1 2017-02-27 19:25:25
If I need to buy a video card then which one should I go for as my sole purpose is split display and not gaming.
hitman1 2017-02-27 19:26:40
hateball, ok
