mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:45:05
php-common
nacc 2017-02-28 14:45:26
mikeymop: why would it?
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:45:34
i didnt
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:45:36
i should have
nacc 2017-02-28 14:45:55
mikeymop: ok, so install 'libapache2-mod-php'?
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:46:03
libapache2-mod-php7.0 == x from now on
nacc 2017-02-28 14:46:10
mikeymop: huh?
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:46:12
dpkg -r libapahce2-mod-php7.0 fails
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:46:23
http://askubuntu.com/questions/803430/getting-errors-while-installing-php-on-ubuntu16-04
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:46:28
i'm having this issue
nacc 2017-02-28 14:46:30
Oderus: where did you get that package from?
nacc 2017-02-28 14:46:45
mikeymop: with a different verison of php7.0 i assume (not 7.0.8)
nacc 2017-02-28 14:46:57
jamesd: or just use the packages
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:47:03
yea
nacc 2017-02-28 14:47:10
jamesd: but even then, test them pre-production, yes
nacc 2017-02-28 14:47:20
mikeymop: you're getting that same exact output?
Oderus 2017-02-28 14:47:21
nacc: an added ppa
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:47:25
seemed logical that manually downloading the apt archive and replacing the sytem file in the anser wouls fix it
nacc 2017-02-28 14:47:29
Oderus: right, so talk to that ppa's owner
jpugarte1 2017-02-28 14:47:33
hello fellas, is there anyone here willing to help me with a problem with broken dependencies? I am new to Ubuntu, and have tried different solutions I found out there, but nothing has worked so far.
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:47:35
however apt-get -f install still fails with OP's error
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:47:46
can i safetly rm -rf /usr/lib/php
Oderus 2017-02-28 14:48:01
nacc: ok sorry. thank you.
nacc 2017-02-28 14:48:03
mikeymop: without removing the packages? it will probably break apt
jamesd 2017-02-28 14:48:10
i didn't know it was dependency hell day in ubuntu land.
nacc 2017-02-28 14:48:10
mikeymop: in that apt will be unsure what you did
nacc 2017-02-28 14:48:18
mikeymop: can you just remove all the php packages you have installed?
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:48:26
it thinks they're not installed
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:48:28
even dpkg does
nacc 2017-02-28 14:48:34
mikeymop: can you pastebin the exact command and message?
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:48:38
1s
nacc 2017-02-28 14:50:42
mikeymop: i will have to step away shortly, but will be aroudn again tmrw
nacc 2017-02-28 14:50:53
mikeymop: should just be `command | pastebinit`
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:50:55
https://hastebin.com/akusuwirib.sql
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:51:01
ok
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:51:14
i was ammending three together idk that would pipe it
nacc 2017-02-28 14:51:38
mikeymop: that's *not* the same error
nacc 2017-02-28 14:51:49
"Error: The new file /usr/lib/php/7.0/php.ini-production does not exist!"
nacc 2017-02-28 14:51:55
is what hte ubuntu help said
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:52:15
i had that too, since replaced it
nacc 2017-02-28 14:52:25
mikeymop: right, but i can only help what i see
nacc 2017-02-28 14:52:27
mikeymop: so in any case
nacc 2017-02-28 14:52:39
mikeymop: can you install 'libapache2-mod-php' (you shouldn't install the version-specific pacakges generally)
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:54:06
it'll do everything and get stuck with the same error, waiting for pastebinit
nacc 2017-02-28 14:54:26
mikeymop: if that doesn't fix it, you should look at /var/lib/dpkg/info/libapache2-mod-php7.0.config and see why it's failing
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:54:36
thanks
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:55:18
it didn't exist sthat could be the problem
nacc 2017-02-28 14:55:38
mikeymop: is there anything in there with that prefix? /var/lib/dpkg/info/libapache2-mod-php7.0*
nacc 2017-02-28 14:56:01
mikeymop: oh sorry, it was the .postinst that failed
Bashing-om 2017-02-28 14:56:03
jpugarte1: Pastebin an example command and the resulting output ; we see what we can make of it .
jpugarte1 2017-02-28 14:56:17
thanks, bashing-om... coming right here https://paste.ubuntu.com/24087532/
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:56:53
nacc: a little
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:57:14
conffiles list md5sums ponstinst postrm prerm
nacc 2017-02-28 14:57:25
mikeymop: right, so it's the postinst file that failed
mikeymop 2017-02-28 14:57:33
if i remove it will apt pull it in?
nacc 2017-02-28 14:57:42
mikeymop: well, removing it doesn't really achieve anything
beancounter956 2017-02-28 14:57:46
bye
nacc 2017-02-28 14:57:48
mikeymop: gtg -- ping me tmrw?

chu 2017-02-28 15:03:16

Bashing-om 2017-02-28 15:04:03
jpugarte1: Where does libglapi-mesa come from ? show ' apt list libglapi-mesa ' .
xheart 2017-02-28 15:04:34

jpugarte1 2017-02-28 15:06:15
Bashing-om: see updated pastebin https://paste.ubuntu.com/24087615/
DarkAceZ 2017-02-28 15:06:17
any idea why when I try to install WINE, my package manager wants to remove 5 unrelated packages? (a2jmidid ardour blender jackmeter simplescreenrecorder)
jpugarte1 2017-02-28 15:07:02
unrelated: how do you address someone in particular? 'nick:' didn't seem to do the trick, neither '@nick'
kostkon 2017-02-28 15:07:07

bazhang 2017-02-28 15:10:02
xheart, that is not alongside, it's just a different DE
bazhang 2017-02-28 15:10:15
xheart, which you then select at login
xheart 2017-02-28 15:10:40

Bashing-om 2017-02-28 15:11:17
jpugarte1: Look'n . back soonest .
jpugarte1 2017-02-28 15:11:23
Bashing-om: I think the file came from 'xorg-edgers/ppa'. Doing a ppa-purge right now
Bashing-om 2017-02-28 15:12:49
!info libglapi-mesa xenial | jpugarte1
ubottu 2017-02-28 15:12:51
jpugarte1: libglapi-mesa (source: mesa): free implementation of the GL API -- shared library. In component main, is optional. Version 12.0.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 (xenial), package size 22 kB, installed size 175 kB
jpugarte1 2017-02-28 15:14:56
Bashing-om: After the ppa-purge, I could installed VLC. I think libglapi-mesa might have been installed either with an old game that included a GPU driver installation (since these files include OpenGL libraries)... I wonder if doing the ppa-purge messed up another software (could be that game, but could also be ROS [robotic operative system])... I will find out soon, I guess. Thanks for your help :)
jpugarte1 2017-02-28 15:15:27
*I meant after the ppa-purge, I succesfully installed VLC
jpugarte1 2017-02-28 15:16:13
gotta go now, thanks again @Bashing-om
Bashing-om 2017-02-28 15:16:42
jpugarte1: Good deal . that PPA is depreciated ( maybe no longer even exist ) .
jpmh 2017-02-28 15:22:20
I have a server, running 14.4, been fine for a couple of years. Today I note that fail2ban-server is taking 95%+ of the cpu time. Nothing in the fail2ban.log shows up. Any ideas?
