hi, ubuntu people. would one of you be so kind as to say your useragent when using firefox? thanks.
medfly 2017-02-22 15:10:00
I'd like to pretend I am using ubuntu to websites, you see

medfly: make your life easy and install ubuntu :p
jacius 2017-02-22 15:20:56
I am using 16.10 with Unity. When I double-tap the touchpad with 3 fingers, Ubuntu switches apps (as if I had typed Alt+Tab). Is there a way to disable this behavior? I keep accidentally triggering it.
Guest69578 2017-02-22 15:21:40
liche la plotte :)
xangua 2017-02-22 15:22:08
jacius: sometimes that happens to be, but didn't know how to trigger it... It seems to be a know bug, did you check on Launchpad?
xangua 2017-02-22 15:22:51
(the alt switch apps popup I assume)
KC1AFM 2017-02-22 15:28:35
Hi, i am trying to get sound to work via hdmi on my rasberri pi. I am running ubuntu mate. can anyone help?
wedgie 2017-02-22 15:33:26
teddy_berror: not the same thing at all.
wedgie 2017-02-22 15:33:55
writing 0's to the whole disk will take quite a long time, depending on the size of the drive
Wadjenes 2017-02-22 15:34:46
Hi.
Wadjenes 2017-02-22 15:34:49
I get this error:
teddy_berror 2017-02-22 15:34:49
wedgie: Sure, I didn't think so. I just meant that it would, in practical use, appear to be a fresh disk
Wadjenes 2017-02-22 15:34:51
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
Wadjenes 2017-02-22 15:34:51
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
Wadjenes 2017-02-22 15:35:03
Does anybody have a way to resolve it. It's quite frustrating.
teddy_berror 2017-02-22 15:35:06
KC1AFM: What have you tried? > lspci | grep Audio
doc|work_ 2017-02-22 15:35:07
Wadjenes, you need to be root/sudo
Wadjenes 2017-02-22 15:35:30
doc|work_ doesn't work when I'm root as well.
Wadjenes 2017-02-22 15:35:34
I tried sudo -s
wedgie 2017-02-22 15:35:34
teddy_berror: from that perspective, yes. Just keep in mind that all the old data is still physically on the drive, if someone was motivated enough to recover it
doc|work_ 2017-02-22 15:35:52
Wadjenes, then something else is accessing the repo. Do you have synaptic or any other package manager open?
teddy_berror 2017-02-22 15:35:54
wedgie: phew. okay. that was my main concern ty
Wadjenes 2017-02-22 15:40:12
OerHeks: I tried doing sudo apt-get update; it was working and then returned said error.
Wadjenes 2017-02-22 15:40:21
OerHeks: Is there a place where I SHOULD be looking at the updates?
teddy_berror 2017-02-22 15:40:30
j4f-shredder: what is the other hard drive partition type. Fat32 ?
Wadjenes 2017-02-22 15:40:38
OerHeks: I'm fairly new to ubuntu; I've got the latest version however.
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 15:40:54
type binary
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 15:41:01
size unknown
doc|work_ 2017-02-22 15:41:08
Wadjenes, there's one that runs by default, to do auto updates and the like
teddy_berror 2017-02-22 15:41:27
j4f-shredder: where are you reading that from?
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 15:41:50
nautilus
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 15:41:54
is there a command
teddy_berror 2017-02-22 15:42:45
j4f-shredder: i can't think of one easy/good way except gparted. Can you open that and find your hard drive from the list? Then you should be able to see what it was formatted as on Windows
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 15:43:53
ntfs
j4f-shredder 2017-02-22 15:44:04
mount point is media/root/HDD
ubuntquestion 2017-02-22 15:44:14
hi there - simple question. i have a network printer, laser - Fuji Xerox Docucentre C2275
ubuntquestion 2017-02-22 15:44:26
how should I best add this to my ubuntu setup?
ubuntquestion 2017-02-22 15:44:52
I tried using "Generic PCL Laser Printer" and it does print, but it's in black and white and has low DPI resolution
ubuntquestion 2017-02-22 15:45:02
so i figure there's probably a better option to use?
