hi, I have a problem with my displays: I have to connected an both work during boot. But once loged in one of the two shows "no signal". I tried to change settings with xrandr to dis- and reanble it, but it stays black. Only thing working so far is to go via display settings. any ideas why it looses signal in the first place? I use amdgpu driver

nicomachus 2017-02-28 07:11:14
L33T: well it's noon here so... yea
DJones 2017-02-28 07:11:28
L33T: Just ask your Ubuntu support question, probably the best thing to start with
DJones 2017-02-28 07:11:46
L33T: If anybody knows, they'll normally help out
L33T 2017-02-28 07:12:53
DJones: Thanks and sorry , I was quite new to all these so pardon me :)
DJones 2017-02-28 07:13:57
L33T: No problem, if in doubt, you can always check the channel topic when you join, but I appreciate you're new here, just explain the issue you're having and see if anybody can help

k1l 2017-02-28 07:24:27
roadrunneratwast: the .2 release is not a real new release. its just like a servicepack on windows. but you can use the backports kernel and xorg witht hat.
roadrunneratwast 2017-02-28 07:24:31
ok
k1l 2017-02-28 07:24:33
which you do
roadrunneratwast 2017-02-28 07:24:35
ok
roadrunneratwast 2017-02-28 07:24:45
any idea how to fix the install?
roadrunneratwast 2017-02-28 07:24:48
of vmware?
nacc 2017-02-28 07:24:52
roadrunneratwast: looks to be a mismatch between vmware and the kernel source
roadrunneratwast 2017-02-28 07:24:55
ok
nacc 2017-02-28 07:24:58
roadrunneratwast: probably ask vmware?
roadrunneratwast 2017-02-28 07:25:02
ok
k1l 2017-02-28 07:25:57
roadrunneratwast: are the proper kernel headers installed?
roadrunneratwast 2017-02-28 07:26:06
i don't know.
roadrunneratwast 2017-02-28 07:26:15
i installed build-essential
k1l 2017-02-28 07:26:40
roadrunneratwast: is "linux-generic-hwe-16.04" installed?
roadrunneratwast 2017-02-28 07:26:56
i don't know. this is a new install
roadrunneratwast 2017-02-28 07:27:14
should i install these files?
k1l 2017-02-28 07:27:16
nacc: i guess the hwe wiki site should link to linux-generic-hwe-16.04 and not the image meta package because that is missing the headers then
k1l 2017-02-28 07:27:50
roadrunneratwast: please run "apt policy linux-generic-hwe-16.04 linux-image-generic-hwe-16.04 | nc termbin.com 9999" and show the url here
nacc 2017-02-28 07:28:08
