craptalk, so where did you get that message? You already checked out your BIOS menus?
craptalk 2017-02-24 15:46:08
i got it on my terminal, i run sensors-detect
craptalk 2017-02-24 15:46:14
it shows me that msg
junktext_ 2017-02-24 15:46:51
Ah, yeah, I usually first check the BIOS itself as it has lower-level access.
dimisdas 2017-02-24 15:47:09
I'll take a guess and say that power management is not done by Ubuntu but something else, like BIOS
dimisdas 2017-02-24 15:47:19
power and thermal management *
junktext_ 2017-02-24 15:47:22
But, not every BIOS/UEFI has temperature readings.
dimisdas 2017-02-24 15:47:35
Check junktext_'s suggestion
craptalk 2017-02-24 15:47:49
well, what kind of configuration can i do in BIOS? is enable or disable thing?
craptalk 2017-02-24 15:48:38
can i configure the speed of fans or something like that?
junktext_ 2017-02-24 15:48:58
It depends on your BIOS, craptalk. But, what I am saying is that you could reboot your computer and enter the BIOS menu using like the F2 or F12 key. Within the BIOS it may show you various temperatures.
kaosine 2017-02-24 15:49:34
Well that was weird. Xubuntu installer loaded weirdly and slow there for a bit
junktext_ 2017-02-24 15:50:58
There may be a way to report the temperatures to Ubuntu, but I've never really cared to do that. Although, dimisdas is likely correct on his suggestion on that aspect.
dimisdas 2017-02-24 15:52:28
craptalk: there's a github project for fan control for linux kernels with the thinkpad-acpi patch, take a look
dimisdas 2017-02-24 15:52:33
https://github.com/Stanko/ThinkPad-Fan-Control
kaosine 2017-02-24 16:19:59

kaosine 2017-02-24 16:21:22

Bashing-om 2017-02-24 16:24:22
kaosine: See unity is a resource hog :) It takes a modern full blown system to run unity as unity wants .
kaosine 2017-02-24 16:24:23
Bashing-om: it's not unity that's the hog in this case it was windows vista and all the stupid bloatware that system had originally
OERIAS 2017-02-24 16:24:23
Bashing-om, I updated and it still didn't solve my issue
OERIAS 2017-02-24 16:24:23
It still says I have broken packages on Synaptic
Bashing-om 2017-02-24 16:26:42
OERIAS: Pastebin ' sudo apt full-upgrade ; sudo apt -f install ' . So I see the errors on context .
OERIAS 2017-02-24 16:29:01
Bashing-om, sudo apt full-upgrade brings this: http://pastebin.com/v1RnYbKh
elflaco 2017-02-24 16:29:01
is 'sudo service iptables-persistent save' enough to make the iptables rules persistent upon reboot ?
OERIAS 2017-02-24 16:30:56
Bashing-om, sudo apt -f install brings this: http://pastebin.com/7Ug6iCUs
kaosine 2017-02-24 16:32:01
ok I think I may have the wireless enabled now hopefully had to isntall a weird driver using the eth port
Bashing-om 2017-02-24 16:32:29
OERIAS: Humm what shows ' apt-cache policy oxideqt-codecs-extra ' .
kaosine 2017-02-24 16:32:54
Heck yeah! My wireless networks are showing up in xubuntu now :D
Bashing-om 2017-02-24 16:33:00

Transtibot 2017-02-24 16:33:00
question: I am trying to mount an iso image using ubuntu 14. For some reason I cant get any of the programs I found to work: Furious ISO , Gmount-iso. Is there an alternative program I should use? when I try and loop it says false or error.
ubottu 2017-02-24 16:33:03

Bashing-om 2017-02-24 16:34:15
Transtibot: Maybe try : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2/ISOBoot <-allow booting/installing an .iso directly from the hard drive.
Transtibot 2017-02-24 16:35:52
thank you Bashing-om i'll try that
Bashing-om 2017-02-24 16:36:47
Transtibot: Glad2help . It works for me :)
Bashing-om 2017-02-24 16:37:51
Transtibot: Be aware you do not have to make up or edit a config file . You can boot direct from the grub prompt .
