eightfold 2017-02-28 12:45:37
k1l: thanks!
eightfold 2017-02-28 12:45:43
nacc: thanks!
eightfold 2017-02-28 12:45:48
i'll give python3-html5lib a try
eightfold 2017-02-28 12:49:25
hmm
eightfold 2017-02-28 12:49:37
installed that package, getting https://gist.github.com/anonymous/e42b2d565e0eb4d96d5c168964660b88
eightfold 2017-02-28 12:50:15
didn't know that *nix dependency hell hole was so deep :)
eightfold 2017-02-28 12:51:09
identical message as before installing python3-html5lib
nacc 2017-02-28 12:51:34
eightfold: iit'
nacc 2017-02-28 12:51:38
eightfold: it's a bug in wpull
nacc 2017-02-28 12:52:00
eightfold: not compatible with ubuntu's package, afaict, as the modules is called 'html5lib._tokenizer' (and the underscore implies it's not meant for direct import)
funey 2017-02-28 12:55:20
hey
stinger910 2017-02-28 12:58:48
Hello
stinger910 2017-02-28 12:59:32
Anyone interested in helping a complete noob set up their vncserver for desktop environment
eightfold 2017-02-28 13:01:12
nacc: darn. so there
eightfold 2017-02-28 13:01:18
s nothing to do really
eightfold 2017-02-28 13:01:29
but leaving feedback to devs
nacc 2017-02-28 13:02:21
eightfold: you can edit their source and see if it fixes it, but they do pretty clearly ask you to file an issue
nacc 2017-02-28 13:02:35
eightfold: and don't use enter as punctuation :)
eightfold 2017-02-28 13:03:38
nacc: accidental enter
eightfold 2017-02-28 13:04:55
nacc: thank you for your help.
lerner 2017-02-28 13:05:34
in what channe can I get help about 'at'?
lerner 2017-02-28 13:05:44
i mean the command
reisio 2017-02-28 13:05:50
lerner: here is fine
lerner 2017-02-28 13:06:08
at 0106 -c 'firefox -p' , this should work, right?
lerner 2017-02-28 13:06:49
it did not
denny 2017-02-28 13:08:17
Hi
denny 2017-02-28 13:08:23
what is snap in ubuntu
denny 2017-02-28 13:08:30
how can I remove it?
k1l 2017-02-28 13:08:49
its an alternate package system.
Guest82803 2017-02-28 13:09:06
can I remove it?
k1l 2017-02-28 13:09:21
i guess removing snapd
Guest82803 2017-02-28 13:10:06
first of all I have this snap core
Guest82803 2017-02-28 13:10:09
that I want to remove
reisio 2017-02-28 13:10:16
you'll unfortunately probably have to determine what is depending on it, too
Guest82803 2017-02-28 13:10:19
it mounts as loop after boot
reisio 2017-02-28 13:10:26
but my guess is that if you have it at all, you installed the "wrong" thing
k1l 2017-02-28 13:10:32
snap core? what ubuntu is that exactly?
Guest82803 2017-02-28 13:10:44
16.04
Guest82803 2017-02-28 13:11:11
I wanted to try the ubuntu live kernel patching thingy
k1l 2017-02-28 13:11:12
so no ubuntu snappy core install on some arm board or such
Guest82803 2017-02-28 13:11:27
no
nacc 2017-02-28 13:11:29
Guest82803: livepatch requires snaps
k1l 2017-02-28 13:11:36
the livepatching service needs to run with snapd.
Guest82803 2017-02-28 13:11:38
ubuntu server 16.04 on x86
Guest82803 2017-02-28 13:11:50
I disabled it
k1l 2017-02-28 13:11:58
then remove snapd
nacc 2017-02-28 13:11:58
and yes the 'core' snap is present by default with snapd
nacc 2017-02-28 13:12:11
reisio: k1l: confusing naming there :/
k1l 2017-02-28 13:12:38
nacc: yes, some of the naming is suboptimal
reisio 2017-02-28 13:12:42
don't ask me
nacc 2017-02-28 13:12:50
heh
Guest82803 2017-02-28 13:12:57
so...
reisio 2017-02-28 13:12:58
it's true dpkg/apt-get is archaic, but the present approach to add a million worse things on top of it is beyond me
reisio 2017-02-28 13:13:08
Guest82803: /nick soguy
nacc 2017-02-28 13:13:15
Guest82803: so what's your question then?
soguy 2017-02-28 13:13:24
how can I remove it?
soguy 2017-02-28 13:13:31
is there an apt-get remove command?
k1l 2017-02-28 13:13:33
soguy: remove the snapd pacakge
soguy 2017-02-28 13:14:03
got it :)
stinger910 2017-02-28 13:14:06
Anyone interested in helping a complete noob set up their vncserver for desktop environment
reisio 2017-02-28 13:14:21
http://askubuntu.com/questions/772912/ubuntu-16-04-core-os-snap-wont-remove
soguy 2017-02-28 13:14:24
I really hate this snappy things
soguy 2017-02-28 13:14:53
well... thanks guys
c|oneman 2017-02-28 13:14:54
stinger910: I use thinlinc
c|oneman 2017-02-28 13:15:10
it has sound and shit.
k1l 2017-02-28 13:15:18
reisio: its about removing the snapd package with apt. not uninstall snap with snap.
reisio 2017-02-28 13:16:01
k1l: what is?
mikeymop 2017-02-28 13:18:38
there is no ubuntu documentation that doesn't use a2enmod
mikeymop 2017-02-28 13:18:48
can soeone explain what a2enmod php7.0 does
mikeymop 2017-02-28 13:19:06
i'm asking because it says it's already enabled and it's ubuntu specific
k1l 2017-02-28 13:19:35
a2enmod enables apache2 modules
k1l 2017-02-28 13:19:49
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/trusty/man8/a2enmod.8.html for more details on that command
k1l 2017-02-28 13:20:16
mikeymop: so its already enabled php? what is the issue then?
mikeymop 2017-02-28 13:21:41
k1l: when i run a php file it 404s me
mikeymop 2017-02-28 13:21:53
i added a vhost for */wp/
mikeymop 2017-02-28 13:21:58
and all of wordpress is in */wp/
k1l 2017-02-28 13:24:56
mikeymop: that doesnt sound like an php issue. did you restart apache?
nacc 2017-02-28 13:25:32
mikeymop: a 404 is typically debugged by looking at apache's logs
nacc 2017-02-28 13:25:45
mikeymop: and a 404 usually is a configuration issue with apache, not with php
dsnyders 2017-02-28 13:27:38
Hi all! I have set up rsync to do a backup. It sits at "sending incremental file list" for a long time. Is there any way of getting it to show its progress? Note: I already have --progress set.
Kazuto 2017-02-28 13:38:43
nacc: Finally have some free time, wiping my server now. Thanks again for your help earlier :)
